To fuel change you need food. Every community should have food that they are proud to call their own. A connection to our food and the soil it is grown in is missing from our society. It has been for a while and we feel it is time to change this. The Happy Food Coop is determined to help create a local sustainable food system and having local community-run farms is an essential element. This is why this week we have been to visit two farms, one in West Row and the another in Bardwell. They are both owned by Suffolk Council and are coming up for rent in October.
They both offer an amazing opportunity to develop a community-run farm with local veg box schemes, community supported agriculture and a farm start incubator site. The vision is for environmentally managed food growing that regenerates the soil and encourages a healthy ecosystem and increases biodiversity.
